Prizm lets two people who speak different languages talk to each other — on a call, where an AI interpreter translates each voice as it is spoken, and in chat, where every message is shown to each reader in their own language. This policy says what the app and our servers hold about you, why, and for how long.
Prizm is operated by Avenzasoft UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Pinneberger Straße 8a, 22880 Wedel, Germany. Managing director: Aymen Mokhtari.
Questions about this policy or your data: aymen@avenzasoft.com
Your phone number. It is how you sign in — we send a one-time code to it by SMS — and how the people who already have your number find you in Prizm. There is no password. Accounts created before phone sign-in still hold the email address they signed up with; nothing new is written to it.
Your QR code. If you turn on "Include my number" for your QR code, signed-in Prizm users who scan it are shown your phone number; it is off unless you do.
A display name, and a profile photo if you add one. Shown to the people you call and message.
The language you speak. You choose it, and a call is placed with it. If the interpreter hears you speaking a different language the app suggests it; the suggestion is stored so it can be shown, and nothing changes unless you accept.
A voice match. From about a second of your speech the interpreter picks the prebuilt synthetic voice closest to your own pitch, so the other person hears a voice like yours. What is stored is the name of that voice, not a recording.
Calls. For each call we keep who took part, when it started and ended, how long it lasted, which languages were spoken, and how much interpreting the AI provider did — that is what a call costs you in minutes. The audio of a call is not recorded. It is streamed to the interpreter, translated as it plays, and gone: nothing on our servers can play a call back afterwards, and no transcript of it is kept.
Messages. Chat messages are stored on our servers in the language you wrote them in, together with the translations made for each reader, so a message can be read later, on another phone, or in a language nobody had chosen yet. A voice message is stored as the recording you made, its transcript, and the spoken translations made for your readers. Messages you set to disappear are deleted from our servers when their time is up.
Your contacts — matched, never stored. To show which of your contacts use Prizm, the app sends a cryptographic fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash) of each phone number in your address book. The server compares them against fingerprints of registered numbers and answers with the matches. The fingerprints are used for that answer and are not kept; your address book never leaves your phone in readable form. This is optional: the app asks before reading your contacts and works without them.
Presence. The people you talk with can see when you were last in the app and when you have read a message. Last-seen can be turned off in Settings — and if you hide yours, you do not see anyone else's.
Purchases. If you buy minutes or a plan, payment is handled by Stripe. We keep the record of what you bought, when, and for how much, and Stripe's identifier for you as a customer. We never see or store your card details.
Server logs. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, path) for a short period, for security and to diagnose faults. We also keep a small account-linked trail of in-app screens opened, call attempts and invite actions to understand where people get stuck and improve reliability. It never contains message text, phone numbers or address-book contents, and is deleted after 90 days.
Somebody who opens an invite link in a browser can talk without an account. They give a name, and the browser keeps a random token so that the same person is recognised when they come back. A guest cannot buy anything; the person whose link they used pays for what they use.
These providers process data on our behalf, only to do the job named here:
Our own servers are in Germany.
Your account, profile, messages and call records are kept until you delete your account. Disappearing messages go when their timer ends. One-time codes expire shortly after they are sent. Fingerprints of your contacts are not retained. In-app event records are deleted after 90 days. Server logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.
Open Settings in the app and choose Delete account. Your profile, messages, voice messages, credit balance and purchase records are deleted at once. Calls you took part in stay in the other person's history with your name removed — they are their record of the conversation as much as yours. Any remaining paid minutes are forfeited, which the app states before it asks you to confirm.
You can also write to aymen@avenzasoft.com and we will delete the account for you within one month.
Under the GDPR you may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, object to how we use it, or receive it in a portable form. Write to the address above and we will answer within one month. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Prizm is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes materially we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. The date below is when this version was published.
